Learner Journey vs Squarespace
Squarespace is the design-led website builder: beautiful templates, built-in AI tools, commerce, invoicing, and the ability to sell digital content and memberships — with a transaction fee on those sales that falls from 7% on Basic to 0% on Advanced. Learner Journey is a learning platform with an AI website builder attached: the courses, events and certificates are the product, and the site is generated around them. Both can host a course; they are engines of different things.

A beautiful site that sells content versus a platform that runs learning
Squarespace's plans — Basic (£12), Core (£17), Plus (£29) and Advanced (£79) a month on annual billing — all build a website with templates, a free custom domain and AI tools, and all let you sell products, services, digital content and memberships. What changes as you go up is the fee: card rates from 2% + £0.25 down to 1.5% + £0.25, an online-store fee of 2% on Basic and 0% above, and a digital-content-and-memberships fee of 7%, 5%, 1% and 0%. Contributors are capped at two on Basic; CSS and JavaScript customisation, analytics and Google Workspace email arrive on Core. There is no free plan — a 14-day trial — and premium plans with SSO and a success manager are by contact.
Learner Journey does not compete on templates or commerce. It generates a branded site from your workspace — courses, learning paths, events, podcasts — and puts the learning machinery behind it: AI-drafted courses, quizzes and assessments; due dates, cohorts and a compliance report; certificates with a public verification page; events with tickets, invoices, member-free places, check-in and attendance certificates; bookings; an AI tutor; AI coaches. Selling goes through your own Stripe account with no platform fee. It has no template library, no store, no invoicing tool, no CSS access and a much simpler editor.

When Squarespace is the better choice
Design matters most and you want a site that looks like a Squarespace site, with full control down to CSS. You sell a mix of things — products, services, digital downloads, a course or two, a paid newsletter — and want one commerce system with invoicing. Your course is content behind a paywall, and nobody needs a certificate that verifies, a due date or a compliance report.
When Learner Journey is the better choice
The learning is the business and you would rather not pay a percentage of every course or membership sale to reach 0%. You train staff, members or clients and need due dates, completion reporting and certificates a third party can check. Your events need invoices, member-free places, check-in and attendance certificates on the learner's record. You want AI to draft the courses and a tutor to answer from them, and a site generated from all of it rather than assembled.

Frequently asked questions
- Can I keep my Squarespace site and use Learner Journey for courses?
- Yes. Keep Squarespace for the marketing site and store, link to your Learner Journey workspace for courses and events, and embed event registration on a Squarespace page. There is no integration or single sign-on between them.
- Does Learner Journey charge a fee on course sales?
- No platform fee at any plan level. Learning paths, subscriptions and event tickets are sold through your own Stripe account; Stripe's processing fees apply.
- Can I design the site myself?
- You control branding, colours, fonts, section order, copy and images, and can add pages in the editor. There is no template gallery and no CSS or JavaScript access.
- What does Learner Journey not do?
- It does not import or play third-party SCORM packages (it exports them), has no xAPI/LRS, offers email/password and Google sign-in only (no SAML or Microsoft SSO yet), supports one ticket price per event, and has no direct CRM or membership-database integration. If any of those is essential, say so on a demo and we will tell you honestly whether it fits.
