Learner Journey vs Teachable
Teachable is a course-selling platform for creators: build a course or a coaching product, put it behind a checkout, and let Teachable handle payments and tax. Learner Journey can sell learning too, but it is built around training programmes — events, assessments, certificates that verify, and reporting. Which one you need depends on whether your learners are customers or people you are responsible for training.

A storefront versus a training record
Teachable's strength is the sale: a checkout that handles cards, tax and payouts, coaching products, affiliates and, on its higher plans, a community. Its plans are shaped around that — the entry plan carries a transaction fee, and certificates, community and branding removal arrive on the Growth plan.
Learner Journey is shaped around what happens after someone is enrolled: learning paths with due dates, assessments with pass marks, certificates with a public verification page, events with check-in and attendance certificates, an AI tutor grounded in your content, and a compliance report that shows overdue and stale — not just complete. Selling goes through your own Stripe account, and the storefront is the workspace's public site rather than a dedicated e-commerce front end.

When Teachable is the better choice
You are a creator selling courses or coaching to the public and you want the checkout, tax handling, payouts and affiliate programme done for you. You are launching one product and a $29 plan with a transaction fee is the right way to start. Your learners are customers who buy, watch and finish; nobody needs to prove afterwards that they completed anything.
When Learner Journey is the better choice
You are training staff, teachers, members or clients and need due dates, completion reporting and certificates that a third party can verify — on every plan, not the top one. Your programme includes live sessions with registration and attendance, or bookings, or spoken practice with an AI coach. You want AI to draft the content and an AI tutor to support learners. You would rather start free than on a trial, keep payment on your own Stripe account, and add colleagues as admins without buying seats.

- Certificates, community and branding removal are listed from the Growth plan; a custom domain from Builder; auto-graded quizzes and AI features on all plans. Products are capped at 5, 10 and 50 per plan, with one admin user on Starter and Builder.

Frequently asked questions
- Can I sell courses on Learner Journey the way I do on Teachable?
- You can sell learning paths as one-off purchases or subscriptions, and events as tickets, through your own Stripe account. What you do not get is Teachable's hosted checkout with tax handling and affiliates — payments, tax and payouts are between you and Stripe.
- Does Learner Journey charge a transaction fee?
- No. Learner Journey takes nothing from your sales; Stripe's processing fees apply. Teachable's Starter plan lists a 7.5% fee at the time of writing, dropping to 0% on higher plans.
- Can I move my Teachable courses across?
- There is no importer. Bring your videos, slides and documents into a workspace and either rebuild the course by hand or let the AI course creator draft it from your source material, then edit.
- Does Learner Journey have coaching products?
- It has bookings — one-to-one or group sessions with a calendar, optional payment and reminders — and AI coaches for spoken practice. It does not have Teachable's coaching-product checkout.
- What does Learner Journey not do?
- It does not import or play third-party SCORM packages (it exports them), has no xAPI/LRS, offers email/password and Google sign-in only (no SAML or Microsoft SSO yet), supports one ticket price per event, and has no direct CRM or membership-database integration. If any of those is essential, say so on a demo and we will tell you honestly whether it fits.
