CPD & compliance
CPD tracking software that tracks the evidence, not just the tick
A CPD tracker is only as good as what feeds it. Learner Journey records attendance at check-in, completion when the learning is actually done, the assessment result and the certificate — then shows you who is complete, overdue or stale for every topic.

- Completion, overdue and stale status per learning path
- Attendance recorded at event check-in
- Nudges sent from the report and logged
- CSV export of every report
The tracker that is always slightly wrong
Most organisations track CPD in a spreadsheet, and most spreadsheets are wrong in a way nobody can see. Someone attended but the list was not updated. Someone completed the e-learning but the certificate is in their inbox, not the folder. Someone left, someone joined, and the sheet still shows last year's names.
The tracker is downstream of the training, maintained by hand, and its accuracy depends on whoever last had time to update it. Then the audit arrives.
Tracking that is produced by the training itself
In Learner Journey the tracking data is created by the activity. Checking someone in at an event records their attendance. Finishing the last item in a learning path records completion, with the date. Passing the quiz records the score. Issuing the certificate records that too. Nothing has to be transcribed.
The compliance report for a learning path then shows three honest states for each person: completed, overdue against their due date, or stale — no activity within a window you set — so retraining surfaces on its own. Managers can send a nudge email straight from the report, and each nudge is logged so you can show reminders were sent.
What you get
Attendance from check-in
Check attendees in from the event's attendee list. Attendance sits against the event and can trigger an attendance certificate for everyone who was there.
Progress and completion per learner
Every learner has a progress page showing paths, quizzes, assessments and certificates. Workspace admins see the same through the gradebook, with per-learner drill-down and CSV export.
Overdue and stale flags
Assign a path with a due date and a mandatory flag. The report shows who is past due, and separately who has gone stale, so annual refreshers do not depend on memory.
Nudges with an audit trail
Chase outstanding learners from the compliance report. Each nudge is recorded, so the evidence that people were reminded already exists.
Certificates that verify themselves
Every certificate has a public verification link and a PDF. When a regulator or employer wants proof, the learner can send the link rather than you digging out a file.
Export everything
Compliance reports, the gradebook, event attendee lists and assessment submissions all export to CSV for your own returns and records.
Built from Learner Journey modules
Each part of this solution is a standard module of the platform. Read about any of them in detail.
What gets tracked, and when
- 1
Attendance
Recorded when a person is checked in at an event — online or in the room.
- 2
Completion
Recorded when the final item in a learning path is finished, with the date, against the due date you set.
- 3
Understanding
Recorded as the quiz or assessment result, against the pass threshold for that path.
- 4
Certificate
Issued automatically on completion or attendance, stored against the learner, verifiable by anyone with the link.
- 5
Status
Completed, overdue or stale — per person, per path, in the compliance report and exportable to CSV.
- 6
Reminder
A nudge sent from the report to anyone outstanding, logged with a timestamp.
Who it is for
Compliance and HR teams
One report per mandatory topic, generated from real completions, exportable on demand.
School leaders
Know which staff have completed statutory training and who is due a refresher before the inspection, not during it.
Membership and CPD administrators
Track member attendance across an events programme and issue certificates without manual work.
Line managers
See your own team's status and nudge them yourself, without asking the central team for a report.
Why it works
- Accurate by construction
- The data comes from the activity, so it cannot lag behind the way a spreadsheet does.
- Refreshers surface on their own
- The stale flag brings people back into view when their training ages, without a calendar reminder to a person.
- Evidence on demand
- Certificates verify themselves, reports export in a click, and reminders are logged.

Frequently asked questions
- Is this a CPD hours or points tracker?
- No — Learner Journey does not keep a separate ledger of hours or points. It tracks the underlying activity: attendance, completion dates, assessment results and certificates. Hours can be stated on the certificate and event, and completion data exports to CSV for any return your professional body requires.
- Can I see one person's whole CPD history?
- Each learner has a progress page listing their paths, quizzes, assessments and certificates, and the workspace gradebook gives admins the same view per learner with CSV export. Compliance reporting itself is per learning path — a cross-topic dashboard per person is on our roadmap but is not something we advertise today.
- What counts as "stale"?
- No activity on a learning path within a window you configure — fourteen days by default. It is the mechanism that surfaces refreshers and abandoned training without a separate renewal date on every certificate.
- Does it send reminders automatically?
- Assignment sends an email and in-app notification automatically. Follow-up reminders are sent by a manager from the compliance report with one click and are logged. There is not yet a scheduled reminder that fires on its own.
- Can I track training delivered outside Learner Journey?
- You can create an event for an external session and check attendees in, which records attendance and can issue a certificate. Completion tracking applies to learning paths hosted in your workspace.
