A PDF is not a credential
Most certificates are a PDF made in a design tool and emailed out. They can be edited, forwarded and forged, and nobody who receives one can check it without ringing the issuer. The assessment behind them often lives in a separate system, so the link between the test and the certificate is a spreadsheet.
Assessment, certificate, verification — one chain
In Learner Journey the assessment and the certificate are the same object's two ends. Build an outcome-based assessment with scoring bands and a pass threshold, or a quiz with a pass mark; put it at the end of a learning path. A pass issues the certificate automatically — a PDF on your design — and creates a public verification page with its own link. An employer opens the link and sees that the certificate is genuine, who issued it and when. If a certificate must be withdrawn, revoke it and the page says so.
Candidates see their results and certificates on their progress page and can share verification links. The body sees results per assessment and per candidate, exportable to CSV. Attendance-based certificates for events work the same way.

- Do certificates expire?
- Not automatically. The issuer can revoke a certificate at any time, and the verification page reflects it. Time-limited certification is handled by re-assessing and re-issuing.
- Can candidates retake an assessment?
- Yes; attempts are recorded and the certificate issues on a pass.
- Can we verify certificates in bulk or by API?
- Verification is per certificate via its public page. There is no public verification API today; the issue records export to CSV.
- Is the verification page public?
