For schools
Event management for schools, from INSET day to open evening
Schools run more events than most businesses: staff training, parent evenings, open days, trust network meetings, community sessions. Learner Journey gives each one a page, a registration list, reminders and check-in — staff-only where it should be, public where it can be — and records attendance where it matters.

- Internal-only events for staff; public pages for parents and visitors
- Guests register with a name and email
- Capacity, waiting list, check-in and reminders
- Attendance certificates for CPD sessions
A different tool for every kind of event
Staff training is booked on a shared spreadsheet. The parent evening runs on a paid booking service. The open day is a form on the website. The trust's subject network is a calendar invite. Each has its own list, its own reminders and its own way of losing people.
Then the CPD lead asks who attended the safeguarding session, and the answer is a sign-in sheet in a drawer.
One events module, three audiences
Learner Journey's events module covers staff, parents and the public from the same workspace. Internal-only events are visible to workspace members alone — right for INSET, twilight sessions and briefings — and attendance recorded at check-in can issue a certificate and feed the follow-up learning path. Public events get a page and an embeddable registration form for parents and visitors, who register as guests with a name and email and receive confirmation, calendar invites and reminders. Invite-only events cover governors and named guests.
Trusts publish events across schools; each school's attendance is recorded against its own workspace. Capacity and a waiting list handle the popular sessions; a free-text meeting link handles the online ones.
What you get
Staff-only, invite-only or public
Internal-only events for staff; token invitations for governors and named guests; public pages with an embeddable form for parents and visitors.
Guest registration
Parents and visitors register with a name and email — no account. Add your own questions and the answers come back on the list.
Capacity and waiting list
Cap the session; a waiting list fills places automatically as people cancel. Guests can cancel their own place from a link.
Calendar invites and reminders
Confirmation with an ICS invite, reminder emails before the day, and a subscribable calendar feed for the school's events.
Check-in and attendance certificates
Mark attendance from the list. For CPD sessions, turn on certificates and everyone present receives a verifiable certificate of attendance.
Follow-up learning for staff sessions
Assign the post-session reading or quiz as a learning path to the attendees; completion is tracked in the compliance report.
Built from Learner Journey modules
Each part of this solution is a standard module of the platform. Read about any of them in detail.

Frequently asked questions
- Do parents need an account to book a parents' evening slot?
- No. Public events accept guest registrations with a name and email. Parents receive a confirmation and calendar invite and can cancel from a link. Note that events are whole sessions with capacity, not per-teacher appointment slots — for one-to-one appointment booking, see the bookings module.
- Can staff-only events stay hidden from the public?
- Yes. Internal-only events are visible to and bookable by workspace members only and never appear on a public page.
- Can we charge for events?
- Yes — tickets are sold through your own Stripe account, and invoice or purchase-order registration is available for organisations. Promo codes and free places for listed email domains are built in.
- Can the trust run events across all its schools?
- Yes. Publish the event from the trust workspace as public or invite the school workspaces; each attendee is recorded, and the attendee list exports to CSV per event.
- Does it integrate with our MIS or Google/Outlook calendars?
- There is no MIS integration. Calendar invites go out as ICS attachments, and the workspace calendar can be subscribed to from Google, Outlook or Apple Calendar.
