Learner Journey vs Eventbrite
Eventbrite is a ticketing platform with enormous reach. Learner Journey is a learning platform with events built in. If the event is a concert, choose Eventbrite. If the event is training — and something has to happen after it — read on.

Two different jobs
Eventbrite sells tickets and gets people to the door: discovery through its marketplace, a familiar checkout, mobile check-in, reminders and waitlists. It is very good at that, and for a public event where reach matters it is hard to beat.
Training organisers need what comes next: who actually attended, a certificate that says so, the slides and follow-up reading, and — for CPD — a record that the learning was completed. Eventbrite stops at the door; that is not a criticism, it is its scope.
Where Learner Journey starts
Learner Journey runs registration much as a ticketing tool does — a public page, guests registering with a name and email, card payment through your own Stripe account, capacity with a waiting list, calendar invites and reminders — and then keeps going. Check-in records attendance; attendance certificates issue automatically with a public verification link; the follow-up learning path is assigned to attendees and completion is tracked. Invoice and purchase-order registration is built in for organisations that do not pay by card, and internal-only or invite-only events cover staff sessions.
What it does not have is Eventbrite's marketplace: nobody discovers your event by browsing Learner Journey. Your audience comes from your own channels.

When Eventbrite is the better choice
You want discovery — people who have never heard of you finding the event on a marketplace they already use. You sell several ticket tiers to the same event (early-bird, VIP, group). You run consumer events where the ticket is the product and nothing needs to happen afterwards. You need a very familiar checkout for a large public audience.
When Learner Journey is the better choice
The event is training, CPD or a member session, and you need attendance recorded, certificates issued and follow-up learning tracked. Organisations pay you by invoice or purchase order. You run staff-only or invite-only sessions. You would rather not pay a per-ticket fee on paid events. You want the event, the course, the assessment and the certificate on one learner record.
What we checked on Eventbrite's site — 19 September 2026
- Eventbrite lists free events at no cost to the organiser.
- Paid tickets carry a per-ticket service fee, which organisers can pass on to the buyer or absorb; the exact rate is set per country and is on Eventbrite's pricing page.
- Eventbrite offers mobile check-in, automated reminders and waitlists, and paid plans for email marketing.

Frequently asked questions
- Does Learner Journey charge a fee on paid tickets?
- No platform fee. Payments go through your own Stripe account and Stripe's processing fees apply. Free events are free.
- Can I move my events from Eventbrite?
- There is no importer. Recreate the event in Learner Journey — it takes a few minutes — and embed the registration form on your site or link to the public page.
- Do attendees need an account?
- No. Guests register with a name and email, receive confirmation, calendar invites and reminders, can cancel from a link, and can be checked in and issued a certificate. An account is only needed to continue into follow-up learning.
- Can I offer early-bird pricing?
- Each event has one ticket price. Use promo codes for discounts, complimentary tickets for speakers and sponsors, and free places for listed email domains; or run separate events for separate tiers.
- What does Learner Journey not do?
- It does not import or play third-party SCORM packages (it exports them), has no xAPI/LRS, offers email/password and Google sign-in only (no SAML or Microsoft SSO yet), supports one ticket price per event, and has no direct CRM or membership-database integration. If any of those is essential, say so on a demo and we will tell you honestly whether it fits.
