- Both have a free plan; Wix removes its branding on paid plans
Website builder with courses versus learning platform with a website
Wix's strength is the site: an AI builder that generates from a prompt, a drag-and-drop editor with pixel-level control, 2,000+ templates, hosting with 99.99% uptime, marketing and SEO tools, an AI agent (Aria) that does tasks for you, and a set of business apps that share one dashboard — an online store, scheduling with staff and client memberships, events with ticket sales and RSVPs, pricing plans and subscriptions, a blog, and online programs where you sell a course and manage participants. Plans on the page checked run Free, Light ($17), Core ($29), Business ($39) and Business Elite ($159) a month on annual billing, with a custom domain on every paid plan and Wix branding removed.
Learner Journey's strength is the learning: AI-generated courses, quizzes and assessments; learning paths with due dates, cohorts and a compliance report; certificates with a public verification page; events with member-free places, tickets or invoices, check-in and attendance certificates; bookings; an AI tutor grounded in your content; AI coaches for spoken practice; a members' timeline and groups. Its AI website builder generates a branded public site from all of that, on a subdomain or your own domain, and keeps it in step as courses and events change. The editor is simpler than Wix's, there is no template library, no store, and no marketing suite.

When Wix is the better choice
The website is the business: you need a store, a portfolio, a blog and marketing tools, and a course or two is one offering among many. You want full design control and a template to start from. You sell physical products or services alongside learning. You are happy with a course as content-plus-quiz and do not need certificates that verify, a compliance report or an AI tutor.
When Learner Journey is the better choice
The learning is the business and the website exists to present it. You train staff, members or clients and need due dates, completion reporting and certificates a third party can check. Your events need invoices, member-free places, check-in and attendance certificates on the learner's record, not just tickets. You want AI to draft the courses and a tutor that answers from them. You want the site generated from what you already have rather than built page by page.
What we checked on Wix's site — 20 September 2026
- Wix lists Free, Light, Core, Business and Business Elite plans; at the time of writing the USD reference prices shown for yearly subscriptions were $0, $17, $29, $39 and $159 per month, with prices varying by location. All paid plans list a custom domain, hosting, AI creation tools and 24/7 customer care; Business lists 100 GB storage, a marketing suite, accepting payments, standard eCommerce, scheduling and services, and 10 site collaborators. A premium plan removes Wix branding.
- Wix's site lists eCommerce, scheduling, lead management, a portfolio, a blog, online courses ("sell your own online programs and easily manage participants"), events ("sell tickets, track RSVPs, manage your staff"), payments with subscriptions and pricing plans, an AI website builder and an AI agent called Aria.
- Wix does not describe a learning-management layer — learning paths with due dates, compliance reporting, verifiable certificates or an AI tutor — on the pages checked.

Frequently asked questions
- Can I keep my Wix site and use Learner Journey for courses?
- Yes. Keep Wix for the marketing site and store, link to your Learner Journey workspace for courses and events, and embed event registration on a Wix page. There is no app or single sign-on between them.
- How much design control do I get?
- Branding, colours and fonts, section order, copy and images, and a page editor for additional pages. The site is generated from your content and rebuilds as it changes. It is not a free-form canvas like Wix's editor.
- Can I sell physical products?
- No. Learner Journey sells learning paths, subscriptions and event tickets through your own Stripe account. For a shop, use Wix or a store platform alongside.
- Can I move my Wix online program across?
- Not automatically. Bring the material — documents, slides, video — into a workspace and let the AI course creator draft it, then edit. Participant records do not transfer.
- What does Learner Journey not do?
- It does not import or play third-party SCORM packages (it exports them), has no xAPI/LRS, offers email/password and Google sign-in only (no SAML or Microsoft SSO yet), supports one ticket price per event, and has no direct CRM or membership-database integration. If any of those is essential, say so on a demo and we will tell you honestly whether it fits.
