Learner Journey vs Cvent
Cvent is enterprise event management: registration with personalised paths and housing, an attendee hub with a mobile app and virtual experiences, OnArrival check-in and badge printing, venue sourcing, exhibitor and lead tools, and an Enterprise tier with SSO and API access — all priced by quote. Learner Journey is a learning platform with events built in, for organisers whose events are training and who need what happens after the door. Very different scales; this page says which is which.

Conference machinery versus training events
Cvent runs conferences: personalised registration paths, agenda and session management, a no-code event website, payment tools, email marketing, housing and travel; an Attendee Hub with a mobile event app, chat, Q&A, polling, networking, exhibitor and sponsor activation and video production; OnArrival with kiosk check-in, badge printing, session check-in and capacity control; and a long list of add-ons from venue sourcing and room blocks to abstract management, appointments, lead capture and premium webinars. Professional licences the modules you need with 15 user logins; Enterprise bundles everything with SSO, API access and all logins. Prices are by quote.
Learner Journey runs the training event and the learning around it: a public event page and embeddable registration, free or paid tickets through your own Stripe account, invoice and purchase-order registration, member-free places, promo codes, calendar invites and reminders, a waiting list, check-in, automatic attendance certificates with public verification, and a follow-up learning path with completion tracking — on the same learner record as the courses, assessments and certificates. It has no badge printing, no exhibitor tools, no housing, no mobile event app and one ticket price per event.

When Cvent is the better choice
You run conferences, exhibitions or large corporate meetings where the event itself is the product: multiple registration paths and ticket types, housing, a branded mobile app, exhibitors and sponsors, badge printing, session capacity, lead capture and integration with your CRM. You have an events team, a budget for a quoted enterprise platform and a need for 24/7 support on the day.
When Learner Journey is the better choice
Your events are training: CPD sessions, workshops, member evenings, school INSET, public courses. You need registration, tickets or invoices and check-in — and then attendance certificates, follow-up learning and a record per attendee, which Cvent is not built to hold. You run staff-only or invite-only sessions. You want to publish an event this afternoon without a quote, pay no per-ticket platform fee, and keep the event and the learning on one platform.

Frequently asked questions
- Can Learner Journey handle a large conference?
- It handles registration, payment, invoices, capacity with a waiting list, check-in and certificates for events of any size, but it has one ticket price per event, no badge printing, no housing and no exhibitor tools. For a multi-track conference with sponsors, Cvent or a similar platform is the right shape.
- Does Learner Journey have a mobile event app?
- No. The event page, registration, joining details and certificates all work in a mobile browser, and reminders and calendar invites go by email.
- Can I offer early-bird or VIP pricing?
- Each event has one ticket price. Use promo codes for discounts, complimentary tickets for speakers and sponsors, and free places for listed member email domains; or run separate events for separate tiers.
- What does Learner Journey not do?
- It does not import or play third-party SCORM packages (it exports them), has no xAPI/LRS, offers email/password and Google sign-in only (no SAML or Microsoft SSO yet), supports one ticket price per event, and has no direct CRM or membership-database integration. If any of those is essential, say so on a demo and we will tell you honestly whether it fits.
