Creator storefront versus training platform
Podia bundles what a solo creator sells: courses, downloads, coaching sessions, community memberships and events, behind one checkout with tax handled, on a website with a blog and landing pages, with Podia Email for newsletters and automations. Plans are Mover ($42 a month billed annually, with a 5% transaction fee, 100 email subscribers, 50 products and 25 community spaces), Shaker ($84, no fees, 500 subscribers, 150 products, affiliates, upsells, PayPal, Zapier) and Earthquaker ($150, 1,000 subscribers, unlimited products and spaces). Every plan lists courses, downloads, coaching, events, a website, a custom domain, a blog, 1,900+ integrations and migration help.
Learner Journey does the training side in more depth and the storefront in less. AI drafts the courses, quizzes and assessments from your material; learning paths carry due dates, cohorts and a compliance report; certificates verify from a public link; events take registration, tickets or invoices, member-free places, check-in and attendance certificates; bookings, an AI tutor and AI coaches for spoken practice are built in; an AI website builder generates the public site. Selling goes through your own Stripe account with no platform fee. There are no digital downloads as a product, no email-marketing suite, no affiliates or upsells, no PayPal and no sales-tax engine.

When Podia is the better choice
You are a creator selling to the public and want courses, downloads, coaching, community and email in one friendly place with a checkout that handles tax. You sell ebooks and templates as well as courses. You want affiliates, upsells and PayPal. Your learners are customers who buy, learn and move on, and nobody needs to prove afterwards that they completed anything.
When Learner Journey is the better choice
You train staff, teachers, members or clients and need due dates, completion reporting and certificates a third party can verify. Your events need invoices, member-free places, check-in and attendance certificates on the learner's record. You want AI to draft the content and a tutor to support learners, and spoken practice with an AI coach. You want to start free rather than on a trial and pay no transaction fee at any level.

Frequently asked questions
- Can I sell digital downloads on Learner Journey?
- Not as products. A file can be gated behind a name-and-email form as a lead magnet, and learning paths and events can be sold through your own Stripe account. For selling ebooks and templates, Podia is built for that.
- Does Learner Journey have email marketing?
- Email lists with basic broadcasts, and form responses can flow into a list. There is no newsletter builder, welcome sequence or automation suite like Podia Email.
- Can I move my Podia courses across?
- There is no importer. Bring the material — documents, video, slides — into a workspace and let the AI course creator draft it, then edit. Customer records do not transfer.
- What does Learner Journey not do?
- It does not import or play third-party SCORM packages (it exports them), has no xAPI/LRS, offers email/password and Google sign-in only (no SAML or Microsoft SSO yet), supports one ticket price per event, and has no direct CRM or membership-database integration. If any of those is essential, say so on a demo and we will tell you honestly whether it fits.
